death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. The case has polarized the nation with many describing themselves as pro-Zimmerman or pro-Trayvon. While some view the case as based on race, Guy pointed out the case was actually about right and wrong, not race.

John Guy brought Trayvon Martin to life as he told the jury panel of six women that Trayvon's last emotion was fear as he had been shot dead by a stranger after walking to a local 7-Eleven store to buy Skittles and an iced-tea. While the defense spent most of the time focusing on who threw the first punch during a physical altercation between the two as a way of showing that Zimmerman shot and killed Martin in self-defense, the prosecution focused on the fact that Zimmerman singled Martin out as suspicious, called authorities on him, and failed not to wait in his vehicle for officers to arrive.
