George Zimmerman returned to the Seminole County courthouse on July 11, 2013, for a charging conference before scheduled closing arguments were set to begin at 1pm, only to discover he would face lesser included charges in his second-degree, murder case. Zimmerman is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison but could
also be convicted of lesser included charges, such as manslaughter. Zimmerman admitted to shooting and killing unarmed, black teenager Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, in a scenario he described as self-defense.

The trial is concluding 12 days of testimony that focused heavily on 911 calls made in the seconds before Zimmerman fired his gun, delivering a bullet straight to Trayvon Martin's heart. Florida is concerned regarding reaction due to the verdict that could come quickly at this point. There have been several local sheriff's departments working in conjunction with neighborhood churches to keep peace should Zimmerman walk away with a full acquittal.

The defense referred to the state's proposal for lesser included charges including child abuse as a trick. Judge Nelson spoke to Zimmerman's attorney Don West and told him to stop using the word "trick."

Mark O'Mara did not attend the charging conference. You may watch the George Zimmerman trial closing arguments on July 11, 2013, streaming live online in the video player below. You may also get live Tweets from inside the courthouse.
