Do you feel the George Zimmerman trial, Trayvon Martin shooting is racist?

I am working on a new series based on whether or not the George Zimmerman trial is racist. It's a weighty question and granted, there are numerous responses to the answer.

Some argue that the media made the case more racist than it truly was. Others say the case and trial are the biggest thing to hit the civil rights movement this era.

Still, others feel it was a tragic mistake that never should have happened yet racism really isn't a factor.

What is your opinion? Do you feel the George Zimmerman trial is racist? Do you think Zimmerman profiled Trayvon Martin based on his race or clothing? Would he have profiled Martin if the only difference were his skin color?

What do you think would have happened if George Zimmerman spotted Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, but when he looked towards his face, he saw white skin and a tuft of blonde hair peeking out from underneath the hood? Would Zimmerman have continued on his way to the store? Would he have called 911? If Zimmerman would have behaved differently should Trayvon have been white, does that make him a racist or does that mean Trayvon simply wouldn't have fit his "suspect profile?"

Does the fact that Zimmerman is half white, half Mexican mean he isn't racist? Could a Mexican be racist towards blacks? Do minorities hold racist views towards one another or should they all walk in empathy since they understand each other's position.

If race isn't the primary factor in the George Zimmerman trial and the shooting death of Trayvon Martin then what is?
