Watch June 21, 2013, day 10 hearing in George Zimmerman trial (videos)

George Zimmerman did not return to court on June 21, 2013, as his attorney Mark O'Mara spoke on his behalf as the court quickly prepares for opening arguments on Monday. At issue was the question of whether previous 911 calls made the night George Zimmerman shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin would be entered in as evidence. The prosecution wanted the jury panel of 6 women and four
Prosecutor John Guy
alternates to hear the audio evidence as they believed the cries for help heard seconds before gun shots were fired. While one audio expert stated the voice calling for help was Martin's, another said it was Zimmerman's.

The defense felt that testimony that the voice was Trayvon's would be detrimental to their case, as it would show that Martin had ceased fighting with Zimmerman, called for help, then Zimmerman continued to fire his weapon at him. If the expert stated it was Zimmerman's voice calling for help, it would support the defense theory that Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin in self-defense.

On June 22, 2013, Judge Debra Nelson ruled that the audio experts would not be called in to testify regarding the voice heard on the 911 call. That does not mean; however, that the calls will not later surface during the trial.
