teenager Trayvon Martin, 17. The state and defense are looking for a pool of 40 jurors who will pass the first portion of questioning that focuses on the amount of pretrial publicity they have been exposed to and whether they have formed an opinion on the case. Those who make it through the first round will be retained for further questioning as the state and defense will ultimately decide upon six jurors and four alternates for the case.

As of Monday morning, 29 potential jurors have been selected including 20 women and 9 men.

Juror questioning began at 9 a.m. with the following potential jurors being questioned: H-7; H-10; H-13; H-18; and H-27. This afternoon will be a Frey hearing as the prosecution and defense battle regarding 911 audio tapes made on Feb. 26, 2012, and an undetermined voice that screams for help. The prosecution argues that Trayvon Martin is the voice heard on the tape, pleading in fear for his life just moments before George Zimmerman shot and killed him.

The defense counters that the voice heard on the tape is George Zimmerman screaming out in pain and shows that Trayvon Martin was attacking him, leaving Zimmerman no other option than to kill him in self-defense.
