previously ruled the jury would be sequestered throughout the duration of the trial. Jury sequestration began on Sunday, June 23, 2013. The jurors are housed in an undisclosed area and their identities will remain confidential until after the trial verdict. Jury sequestration includes weekends as well.

Judge Nelson made a critically important ruling over the weekend. She determined that the jury would not hear testimony from two state audio experts: Dr. Alan Reich and Tom Owen. There testimony was in regards to who was screaming for help on a 911 audio call recorded seconds before George Zimmerman fired his weapon at close range into Trayvon Martin's chest. The state argued that it was Trayvon Martin's voice calling for help, thereby proving that Zimmerman was the attacker and instigator in the murder.

Judge Nelson explained in her ruling why the testimony would not be allowed into trial, "The scientific methodologies and techniques used by Mr. Owen and Dr. Reich are not reliable as they are not sufficiently established and not generally accepted in the scientific community."

The state contends that George Zimmerman targeted Trayvon Martin and killed him; the defense argues Trayvon Martin attacked Zimmerman and forced him to pull the trigger in self-defense.
