Watch video as Jodi Arias gets another chance at life, hung jury no sentencing verdict reached (videos, photos)

On May 23, 2013, at approximately 7:15 p.m., ET, the jury returned from deliberations and announced they could not reach a unanimous verdict during the penalty phase of the Jodi Arias trial. It was the decision that Travis Alexander's family feared most and one that gives Jodi Arias another chance at life.

The next step is to get another jury together that will hear evidence then deliberate for the penalty portion. Should the next jury fail to reach a unanimous version, death will be removed from the table and the judge presiding over the
trial will sentence Jodi Arias to either life in prison or life with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

The Jodi Arias case will resume in court on July 18, 2013.

Jodi Arias looked teary eyed when the announcement was read and she was seen breathing what appeared to be a sigh of relief. For Travis Alexander's family; however, who has been in the courtroom since Jan. 2, 2013, the news clearly brought additional pain and suffering to their plight.
