Watch Jodi Arias speak to the jury on May 21, 2013 (videos, photos)

On May 21, 2013, Jodi Arias addressed the jury as she plead for her life before the court. It is the penalty phase and Jodi Arias shared her reasons why she felt she should get life in prison and not the death penalty. She did her best to seem remorseful, but the overwhelming majority did not feel any hint of real emotion

from Arias. One area that has caused a great deal of controversy was when Jodi Arias explained her "Survivor" tee shirts and continued to stand her ground that she is a victim of domestic violence.

Arias explained that it would hurt her family too much to put her to death; and she also addressed previous statements made regarding wanting the death penalty. Arias said she lacked perspective when making those comments. Arias spoke about the wonderful things she could do in prison and how she could help the less fortunate women who would be housed in the same unit.
