|Jodi Arias listens to medical examiner Kevin Horn discredit her testimony|
She has plead not guilty and states she killed Travis Alexander in self-defense.
"He got down and grabbed my waist. But before he did that, he was lunging at me, the gun went off," Jodi Arias told the jury when testifying on her behalf.
That account was discredited on April 25, 2013, when medical examiner Kevin Horn said in his professional opinion, he believed Travis Alexander was stabbed first and then shot.
Kevin Horn stated that the gunshot would have been a "rapidly incapacitating" wound, one that would make it highly unlikely that Alexander would have been able to defend himself from knife wounds or move from one room to another.
Juan Martinez asked, "Would he then have been able to get up under any circumstances and walk away?"
Kevin Horn replied simply, "No."
He then elaborated, "It requires coordination of most of the muscles to be able to stand and walk. And with a head injury, a brain injury, I don`t think he`s going to be able to do that."
Travis Alexander's family cried inconsolably during the proceedings when Juan Martinez displayed gruesome autopsy photos that showed the severity of the knife wound to Travis Alexander's neck.
Will the jury ultimately believe that Jodi Arias shot Travis Alexander first? If they believe he was stabbed, that would indicate they discredit her account of what transpired. Will the jury ultimately decide to put Jodi Arias to death?
